How many of you have every seen Justin sit still?
Today marks the point in recovery where Justin’s body has finally had it with the vinyl hospital bed. And as our wise nurse so aptly put it, “recovery is nonlinear.” (She speaks nerd, I like it)
As teased, the chest tube came out this morning! Hooray! Not a horrible process… once all the tape was off. Within 30 seconds, Justin was already proclaiming relief and easy breathing. Only one tube to go, and although he says he feels it, I think agitation has him hypersensitive. He didn’t even know it was there before this morning.
The full liquid diet was slightly anticlimactic. Cream of rice cereal… good, tomato basil soup… bad. This is what happens when I leave for 13 seconds. Justin goes completely rogue. And let’s just say, the soup didn’t sick around for processing.
Fear not, for all is not lost! Well, the soup, yes, but Justin passed a pivotal test tonight, folks. He strutted his stuff for the charge nurse and earned the highly coveted brown sock award. Those in possession of these brown socks have ‘in room’ independence and can poop in glorious privacy. [Insert literal smiling poop]
Justin is finally snoozing hard. I’m praying for a solid night’s rest so he can hit the ground running again tomorrow. All the pictures today were grimacing so I’ll just leave this right here.

Much love,
Christina
